Semester 2 Week 10

This is the first week back from spring break. I continued to work hard over the break, so I wouldn't really call it a break. In any case, I've been working hard in the meantime on the Mayor's cloth and scene assembly. At this point, I have all the parameters for George's cloth, so I've just been caching out his clothes for every scene we need them. The Mayor is very close to completion at this point. I ran into a fair share of issues regarding certain parts of his clothing, but they actually revealed an interesting problem directly related to weight painting. Had I not run into this issue, it would have made the rest of the cloth in the short look much worse. I'm glad I caught it here with time left to fix all that.

In terms of scene assembly, I started to put some scenes together and found a good workflow. I am making a new scene for every single shot, so that there is only one camera in each scene. I believe this will cut down on confusion on render time, as every scene will have the exact camera and frame range already set up. It does cause some issues if I need to change something specific as I need to go from scene to scene making the exact same change, but overall I think its worth the minor inconvenience.

I also was able to set up George's facial controls now that all his blend shapes are done. The control system looks pretty complicated, but he has a lot of blend shapes so I tried to make them as intuitive as possible.

Most of the past two weeks (spring break and week 10) have been dedicated to writing out cloth caches and assembling scenes. Now that I have parameters set, all I have to do is plug them in, set up the right constraints to the mesh, and press go. Assembly is a little more complicated, but I'm getting there.
