Semester 2 Week 11

Another week of cloth caching and scene assembly. The cloth work is fairly straightforward. Like I mentioned last week, it's mostly just plugging stuff in, I've started to get a flow going so I can do a couple scenes in one day. Hopefully I can be done sooner than later on that front.

Scene assembly has still been fairly annoying. At this point, I've noticed the dragon animation was completely mistimed with the motion capture. So I've been going into animation files and pushing back or pulling up animation when the two are in the same shot. My usual workflow starts with bringing in the set and required animation. Right now, most of my efforts are put into the cave scenes, as the outdoor shots were set up really quickly and painlessly. The cave is a different story. There are so many props in the scene, that if everything was shown at the same time, it would take forever to render. So basically after I make a scene, I wait for the camera to be finished so I can reference it, and hide everything that doesn't show in camera. It can be a pain sometimes but its worth it when it comes to render times.

That's mainly been my job, hiding stuff as needed and putting animation in sets. It sounds easy on paper, but this has been a real challenge for me overall.
